Soul self

I looked out upon the East River as a little girl from my bedroom window . I watched the night sky change with the celestial cycles , I watched fiery as well as calm , delicate sunsets . It was enchanting and yet also grounding . I felt more connected to my deeper self because of these moments .

The quietness , the aloneness that allowed for these experiences also created some separation from the day to day lighter side of living .

At the age of eight years old I wrote a letter to the President of the United States . ”Dear Mr. President , Please get everyone to love each other and then we will have peace .” The letter was mailed . I received a brochure of the White House in response . I was thrilled because it meant that my letter had arrived .

That little girl with the old soul is still me . And since then have discovered the joy of laughter and spontaneity .

In The Dead of Night

In the deep  quiet of the night there  used to  live an endless invitation to set your spirit to soaring .  A time set aside  for discovery and an opportunity to break the boldest or the most  mysterious bonds holding onto you .

Now in the dead  of the night are  the  children . Children that did not  ask for this life . Children being criminalized  simply  for being alive . Children being  whisked through airports like some strange secret , like a lie .

The wailing ,  the visceral sounds of the wailing of the innocent  babes and their Mamas being torn apart will follow these men in charge to their graves . They don’t know it yet . But it will . Haunting a spirit  for evermore will be the suffering caused by the deeds of men with no heart and no soul .

With Out a Promise

The heart still sings  ,

The mind continues to  seek

with out a promise of a warm bed .

And the lovingly prepared  meal is missing

while the presence  of the feeling of a heaven is absent …

And still the Soul grows with  faith and with the song of laughter .
